This trip report is an account of my journey onboard 16506 Bangalore – Gandhidham Express undertaken in January 2015. Being a native of Kachchh, Guj, it was my long cherished dream to attend the Rann Utsav made largely popular by Amitabh’s “Kutch nahi dekha toh kuch nahi dekha” ads for Gujarat tourism. The Rann Utsav is held every year at Dhorodo near the Indo-Pak border and is an aura you can’t afford to miss. With authentic Kutchi cuisine, folk dances and handicrafts on display, a visit to the white desert especially on a moonlit night is sure enough to mesmerize

Makalidurga hills or Makalidurga is located 60 kms north of Bangalore and 10 kms after Doddaballapura. You can easily reach this place within 2 hrs as the traffic is not that heavy on this side of the city. There is a hill fort situated near the village of the same name. There also an old temple of Lord Shiva at the summit and it is believed that Markandeya Rishi performed penance here.
